Wayne Township Highway Commissioner
The Examiner has been a close observer of Wayne Township government for many years, and we have sometimes been critical of various officials past and present. One leader who has not disappointed us is Highway Commissioner Martin McManamon, who is seeking a second term. Residents are fortunate that he is.
In just one term, he has improved methods of road building and de-icing that have saved taxpayers money while remaining environmentally responsible. McManamon has also completed long-awaited projects such as the Bartlett High School crossing at Schick and Carriage roads and the bike paths along Fair Oaks and Schick roads. He plans to continue this sterling level of service with a sharp eye on the bottom line.
Prior to serving as our Highway Commissioner, McManamon worked for 30 years as a leader in the road construction industry. He even served as the construction superintendent for SCS Construction, supervising all finished pavement elevations on the I-355 project, Elgin-O’Hare project and the O’Hare Airport Scenic Taxiway. McManamon also has hands-on experience in sewer and water, electrical installation, as well as masonry construction. In sum, he has the expertise perform all aspects of his job at the highest level.
Married for 18 years to Martina, mother to their three school-aged children, McManamon is very active in the Wayne Township community, including teaching religious education at Corpus Christi Church.
We need more dedicated public servants like McManamon, and we need to keep the ones we already have. McManamon is endorsed.
